I have been tossing the idea of blogging my experiences teaching art for quite a while and have finally managed to sit down and do it at last. This blog is intended for anyone who is looking for ideas/inspiration for teaching art for young children. Watching kids create art is the most amazing, rewarding experience! Class 1 - Earth Day
Thaumatropes were invented in the early 19th century, and the name comes from two Greek words - "thauma" meaning magic and "trope" which means something that moves.
A thaumatrope is an optical toy that was popular in the 19th century. A disk with a picture on each side is attached to two pieces of string. When the strings are twirled quickly between the fingers the two pictures appear to blend into one due to the persistence of vision.
Students of Class 1 created their own thaumatrope on the occasion of Earth Day ie. 22nd April 2023.
